The Amazing School Disco

Disco fever at Oakura Hall! All classes had fun and tons of dancing with competitions. For sale were lots of flashy, colourful, shining LED lights and rods. The ultra-violet lights made the white gear look purple and fluorescent it was incredible. Ultimate and epic Gus and Cole reckon.

Let's Go.

Room 5 have been the best at making our own way to school without someone giving them a ride in a car. We always had over 90% following the Let's Go challenge.
Here are James and Rebecca with Penny Pukeko AKA Charlie about to be rewarded for another top day walking to school. The reward was a pancake. YUM!

Room 5 Production 'Over The Rainbow' scenes.

Room 5's 'Over The Rainbow' theme was based on the colour yellow. The boys were wonderful and performed well, the girls scene was extraordinary. We performed 4 shows to an audience of over 800 and enjoyed it every time. We want to thank all of the parents who helped also Raeleen, Jan and Sarah.

WONDER WALL

Thanks for your special poster Sam.

The study we just finished was about 'The World Outside Our Window' and it was called Looking After Papatuanuku (earth). The class started with question panels and then progressively disclosed (found out about) the topic with lots of research. Our rubbish man was made of one days packaging from school lunches, at the start of our study. At the end there wasn't enough rubbish to make a rubbish man because the plan was to have zero waste in our school rubbish bins. Room 5 know a lot about reuse, reduce, recycle. By Muzza

Poetry is a favourite.

We love writing poems because we can get our ideas together quickly and publish them. The poetry corner gets changed lots of times with a new topic and we are so proud to have our parents, grandparents and friends read the poetry. We make sure each line is brief and makes sense on its own also it needs to catch the readers attention with interesting word. These are our WALTs for poetry writing. by NIWA

Published books time

The plan

Eva's book cover (left) and inside Ally's book (right) showing the title page and an illustration.

Cole the published author
 Gus the published author.
Timmy the published author.

Room 5 has been working on a book each and man do they look good. We had to follow instructions so that the books were really interesting and had most of the main parts that a published book has. Our books had a title page with the title, author, copyright, year of publication, ISBN, dedication and publisher. All of the stories were imaginative with lots of exciting events like scary bits or dangerous parts included in the plot. The covers were our own creation and were outstanding so we laminated them. Some are finished but we have until the end of term 3 to use parts of our IT time to get them completed. ALLY.
